19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since March of that year.

Success also means he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he secured the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
